Today! Was awesome! First class went over two lessons, which, were with Barry Bennett, and as you know, I get a TON of notes off of him because he goes at just the right speed for my typing, and, his teaching is PACKED FULL of good stuff. Second Third and Fourth hours were all with Andrew Wommack! The first was the last lesson in the section, I guess we may be having a test coming up sometime soon...? But speaking of tests, we have one with Wendell Parr tomorrow and I forgot to go to the study group tonight... oh well... I wanted to too... yeah, well its an easy test, I will try to not forget the next one! Anyways, the Third and Fourth hours were on "Christian Philosophy" I LOVE THAT STUFF! But more on that after this brief message on Discipleship Evangelism by ...
Barry Bennett!
Lesson 2
Salvation by Grace
Identifying what being “lost” is,
1-Guilt, it will chase them down, make them depressed, and make them not feel worthy. (Sin Conscience) (Condemnation) (Fear-will trap you, suck the life right out of you)
2-Self Righteousness, becoming works oriented, not sure about God but you begin to draw from different things you have heard and start trying to build your own case for favor with God. (Legalistic, opposing standards on yourself and others, to become approved by yourself and those around you.) (egocentric, totally self righteous)
3-Wholly given to the flesh.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works lest any man should boast.
You cannot boast, because this is a gift, not something you earn, Grace is God’s Provision for man’s need.
vs. Guilt and self righteousness-mans provision to make God happy.
Isaiah 55:1 Everyone that thirsts, come to the waters, and he that has no money; come, buy, and eat; yes, come buy wine and milk without money and without price.
That is grace!
Ephesians 4:32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake has forgiven you.
It is not of your own works! It is not for your sake that He has saved you! It is for Christ’s sake! He is looking at Jesus not you! That is why we are saved, it is not at all of us, its not about us, He was not looking at us when He saved us, He was looking at Jesus. Its not how good or bad we are.
When did He forgive you? At the cross, that is when He forgave ALL mankind.
Colossians 3:13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also should you do.
Christians quarreling??? Nah… haha forgive each other, but its not based on you, its based on Christ, Christ forgave you, past tense, its done, finished, over, complete, never going to be done again, no more need, but we should forgive so that we may stay in unity.
Lesson 3
Righteousness by Grace
Romans 3:21-23 But not the righteousness of God without the law(Without Religion, has nothing to do with) is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; (Those things that were imposed and could not bring life are now standing back and witnessing to this new life) Even the righteousness of God by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Want to help identify that we too were once lost.
Romans 5:17 For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ. (Adam sinned, and death came and reigned until Christ.)
Only one thing could please God, and that is perfection. We cannot do it, its not possible. But was anyone ever perfect? Yes, Jesus, and He being the son of God, took all of our sin on His sinless body, and died in our place, because the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life.
Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit.
Not by our own works. Again.
2 Cor. 5:21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us so that in Him we might become the Righteousness of God.
Titus 2:11, 14 For the Grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to ALL men. V14 Who gave himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
Romans 5:1-2 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace(How many people don’t live with peace in their lives? Even Christians? it’s a gift!) with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: by whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Romans 10:9-10 If you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
He had to bridge the gap, we can’t, He revealed who the father is to us, He took your fear your guilt your sin, EVERYTHING on the cross with Him, do you believe that?
So now onto Christian Philosophy, the real reason we are here, and this explains it to a rather weak extent, but beyond my poor note taking skills (when there is amazing and faster moving teaching) I can only point you to the free online teaching on it, it is very good! but here is part of what I got out of it today.
Andrew Wommack- A sure Foundation II “Christian Philosophy” lesson 1
Colossians 2:1-3 “For I want you to know what a great conflict I have for you and those in Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh, that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
The Epic’s believed that there was a God, but that He created and then just “wound it up like a clock and let it go” so we have no real purpose, so we can just indulge in every pleasure and not take any pain.
The Stoic’s believed that they should never have any emotions, that you don’t think clearly when you have pleasure or anything like that, so in every occasion you should have no emotion so you can think clearly, you should have no pleasure and even make yourself go through pain.
A Philosophy is just a way of thinking, everyone has one, American’s have one, the Irish have one, Mexican’s have one, everyone.
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of man, according to the tradition of me, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. (Colossians 2:8) Beware-military term, means to stay alert, keep watch, let any man spoil you, when someone is conquered the enemy then takes the spoils, don’t let anyone spoil you.
Then... next hour...
A sure foundation II Lesson 2
Satans’s strategy is to use subtlety, deception, and guile, using words to attack God’s Word.
Satan has no authority, he can’t do anything to you, he can only trick you into a way of thinking, you have choice, even the man possessed by a legion of demons ran and threw himself at the feet of Jesus.
Are you going to let the sewage of the world run through your mind and then expect your life to be different?
No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against you, you shall condemn.
Proverbs 23:7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he..”
The word of God is the “Plumb line” It is absolutely correct! Everything else should be measured by it.
Whatever is growing in your life, you have either planted it, or you have allowed the devil to plant it in your life, it is your fault. As is, not God's fault, and you have control over it.
So there is Christian Philosophy parts 1 and 2, come back for more next time... or listen ahead here >http://www.awmi.net/extra/audio/1047 and part 2 Here > http://www.awmi.net/extra/audio/1062
