Wednesday comes... and goes... again, week 4

So today, the traffic on the interstate wasn't as bad, I hit a nice pocket on the way home and only had to deal with 2 cars within a hundred yards of me! It was great.
Today I also paid my rent, and tomorrow will be paying October's school tuition. Equally great news, I am going to be training at Chic-Fil-A this Saturday, but that means that today I will be going out to get some black non-slip shoes, see if I can actually find the store today!
In other news, today in school first was worship, then 2nd hour with Lawson, which is right here,

End of lesson 5
Romans 8:1-4
No longer any condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, we have been made free by the law of the Spirit of life from the law of sin and death.
God would be doing wrong to Jesus if He judged us, because Jesus already took His Judgment of us on Himself.
Two ways you can walk in the flesh, one is to just let your flesh do what it wants, give into all temptations for pleasure’s sake, or you can work and try to become righteous in your own flesh, but in both of those there is still condemnation. But there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
The law was weak, it could not perform the righteousness of God.
Man is not justified by the works of the law but by the faith if Jesus Christ, by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. The just shall live by faith.
Most people don’t look at legalism and performance as walking in the flesh, but that is exactly what it is, you cannot be made righteous in yourself.
Since we have been made legally free, do we not need to be set free from our old ways of thinking? To be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace, its about you way of thinking.  Your old way of thinking vs. God’s way of thinking.
Religion is carnal, it is of the flesh, as is legalism.
You can’t please God if you are not of the Spirit, if you are of the flesh (old, not born again, nature)
The way we walk in victory is focusing on who we are NOW not who we were THEN, focus on who God says we are, if you are born again you please God, why is God pleased with you? Because Jesus lives in you and God is pleased with Jesus.
Therefore we are debtors, not to the flesh to live after the flesh, we don’t owe the old nature anything, for if we live after the old flesh you shall die, but if you through the Spirit put to death the deeds of the body you will live.
As many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God.
The Spirit of God leads us into relationship with God.
Legalism will kill you! Because it puts the focus on you and not on Jesus!

So yes, I guess lesson 5 was not done yet, and today he didn't say if he went into lesson 6 or not! But we got lots of good teaching anyways!
3rd hour was a TEST!!! Wendell Parr's Holy Spirit part I, and if you are wondering, I'm pretty sure I aced it just like everyone else, the tests here aren't made to make you fail, they are made to help you remember the important things. (With the exception of Wayne's test for second years... or so I hear)
4th hour was more of Wendell! And man I wish I could let you all listen to this guy! But here is what I Hear from him. Ever wonder how to receive the Holy Spirit? Or even before that, should you receive the Holy Spirit? And EVER more basic, is there a Holy Spirit?

Wendell Parr-Holy Spirit II Lesson 1

John 7:37:39
There are two key words that occur here and repeatedly in Scripture that deal with the Holy Spirit. They are “Thirst” and “Receive.” Today’s lesson will deal with Bible ways to receive the Holy Spirit.

I-Wait on God in Prayer
Acts 1:4,8 “And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “Which,” He said, “you have heard from me;”  “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Its not about waiting on God for Him to do something, not waiting for Him to “send the Holy Spirit” because He has already been sent. But we are always in such a hurry for everything, this is about showing our desire to receive something from God, its about getting our own hearts ready. These things happen instantly in the Spirit, its done, but are we willing to wait for them to show up in the physical? Its not on God’s part that we are waiting, we are showing Him our heart, what is our intent? Are we really desiring it? Or are we just, “Do it now or else”? We can limit God by putting Him in a box, what do I mean? One “prime” Example, Jesus walks on water, and Peter put God in a box, “If it is you, tell me to come” what was Jesus supposed to say? “oh no its not me”? So in order for Him to identify Himself He said “Come.”
God is looking for the intent and desire of the heart, He doesn’t deal well with “or else’s” its not about time, its about our hearts. Are we willing and thirsty enough to receive?

II-Have Hands Laid On
Acts 8:4-8; 12-17 “Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word. Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them. And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. …….Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them, who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. For as yet He had fallen upon none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. The they laid hands on them, and they receive the Holy Spirit.”
But we must be sensitive as to how God wants us to do it in every situation.

III-Hear the Word
Acts 10:44 “While Peter was still speaking, these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the Word.”
Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

You realize that in the new testament that they weren’t even allowed to wait on tables unless they were baptized in the Holy Spirit! Acts 6, Men chosen that were full of the Holy Spirit to serve food.
But isn’t it amazing that today we have people saying that they are pastors, preaching the Word of life, and yet they don’t have and don’t believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus told the Disciples to do nothing until they got it!

IV-Be Willing to Receive Further Revelation
Acts 19:1-6
Disciples found that had not received the Holy Spirit, and they had not so much as heard if there WAS a Holy Spirit!
Also here, it would be pretty stupid for Paul to ask if they had received the Holy Spirit yet, since they had already believed, if you get it all when you are born again! So no, it is a separate experience, you don’t receive the Holy Spirit, though He is in you when you are born again, you simply have not opened the door, He is still knocking. He is in you and with you, but you are not working through Him yet.
You must be willing to receive further revelation, like Wendell, as a baptist he didn’t even know the Holy Spirit existed! But because he was willing to learn, and receive further revelation, he was able to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

V-Ask For It!
Luke 11:9-13
If you as earthly fathers give good gifts to your children, how much MORE is the Father willing and ready to give the Holy Spirit to those who ask!?
Realize that He is real, Realize that God wants you to receive Him, And then ask and receive!

And now you know! So, if you have any other questions, ask me, I would love to help you!
And yes, I once again enjoyed school, and now will be helping the landlord's move out and pack up for their move to Dallas! Have fun!
Anyways... see...ish... you all tomorrow!
God's blessing on you all
Ben Heath.
