The Bible is not a book about science, but when it does speak scientifically, it is accurate. In face, it was far ahead of any other writing of its time. Please consider the following….
The shape of the earth Isaiah 40:22
The earth is suspended in nothing Job 26:7
The stars are innumerable Genesis 15:5
The existence of valleys in the seas 2 Samuel 22:16
The existence of Springs and fountains in the seas Genesis 7:11, Genesis 8:2, and Proverbs 8:28
The existence of Water Paths in the seas (Ocean Currents) Psalm 8:8
The Hydrologic Cycle Job 26:8, Job 36:27-28, Ecclesiastes 1:6-7
The Concept of Entropy Psalm 102:25-26 Things left to themselves without outside force will tend toward disorder and loss of complexity.
Its short but its thick and could probably take you a good 3 hours (at least) of study to go through it all correctly.
And so then we have Awesome Lawson, as we like to call him, he gets rather riled up when he is excited, we were all laughing out loud at it today, it was great stuff but man HE WAS EXCITED! haha
Lawson Perdue Covenants Romans Lesson 5
Romans 6:1-8, 39
How do we live the victorious Christian life? Through our identification with Christ; through our new life in Christ, not through legalism. Paul identifies the Gentile and Jewish need for righteousness in Chapters 1-3 He identifies the source of their victory in Chapters 6-8
The question that the true gospel fosters: Shall we continue in sin? V 1-2 God Forbid! How shall we that are dead to sin live in it any more?
A dead man won’t sin no matter how tempting you could EVER make it, so how can we sin any longer when we are dead to sin?
Realize that your old man has been crucified with Christ, died with Christ, was buried with Christ, and raised with Christ, and seated at the right hand with Christ.
For he that is dead is free from sin! The first reason we don’t sin is because we are dead to it, the second is that we are free from it! Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also reign with Him!
So how do we walk out this new life? V 3-5 Our new identity in Christ.
Know it
Reckon it (count it done)
Take dominion over your body
Surrender to the Spirit of God inside.
Don’t be deceived. A tree is known by its fruit!
Sin produces death. Grace produces righteousness and leads to eternal life.
Do I ever sin? Yes probably every day, but that is not what I think about, I do not put my FOCUS on sin! I put my focus on God and therefore grow closer to Him rather than closer to sin. It is where you focus is that matters, because that is what you will excel in and the direction you will go.
Just like Jesus never sinned but was made sin for us, we never did any righteousness but were made righteous. Him who knew no sin was made sin for us so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God!
Romans 7
As long as you live the power has law over you, v 1-3, you get a speeding ticket and get a court date, a few days later you get run over by a big tanker truck, so when they come looking for you, your not going to get in trouble, because you are DEAD to sin! And yet, we are dead to the law, we have died with Christ, and therefore we no longer live but Christ lives in us!
Yes, this is something so many people need to know!
If you are dead, you don't live for sin anymore, and the law doesn't have any effect on you!
And if you have died with Christ then you have also been raised with Him in His life! Live it!
and enjoy it,
-Ben Heath
