Pretty Generic today, though one update, I got the new HD camera!

Dan Funkhouser-Sermon on the mount Lesson 5

Matthew 5:31-32
He is speaking to Jews, and of course some nit-pickers come along.
“Furthermore it has been said, ‘whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.’ But I say to you that whoever divorces his wife for any reason except (Habitual) sexual immorality(relations with those outside of the marriage) causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a woman who is divorced commits adultery.”
Matthew 19:3 “The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?” 4, “And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning made them male and female, and said, for this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh? So the, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”

I LOVE THIS LESSON!!!

Barry Bennett-Discipleship Evangelism level 2 lesson 9

Forgiving others
Matthew 18:21-40

Jesus was speaking to the Jews, under the law, and He said, “Unless he forgive from out of the heart.” Can an unregenerate person forgive out of the heart? Is the heart of an unbeliever pure? Holy? Good? Can a heart that has not been changed forgive? Jesus is commanding them to do something that they cannot do! They can not forgive from the heart!
Ephesians 4:17-18 “…the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart.”
When Jesus told them to pluck out their eye or chop off their hand, He was giving them a level that they could not attain.
Romans 1:21 “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations and and their foolish hearts were darkened.”
1. Can a man that is not born again forgive from the heart?
“If you forgive others then your Father in heaven will forgive you, but if you do not forgive others you will not be forgiven.”
Pretty severe, once again, Jesus is giving something that is not possible! Showing them that they CANNOT do it themselves! They needed a savior!
Ephesians 4:32 “And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake forgave you.”
Now, the same idea, but we HAVE been forgiven! So now we forgive because we HAVE BEEN forgiven!
You can’t give what you don’t have, but now that we have been forgiven, we can forgive!
Colossians 3:13 “Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.”
We have been forgiven, so if we choose not to forgive, we have already been forgiven so we cannot be condemned.
If you choose not to forgive, having now been given the ability to forgive, you have then put yourself above God. God has forgiven the whole world. Who are you then to hold someone?
Colossians 2:13 “And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, has he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses.”
You were in the worst condition possible, and God forgave you, and once you receive that, then how can you not forgive?
2 Corinthians 5:19 “That is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.”
God is no longer imputing sin to us, who are we to impute sins to those who hurt us?
You do not have the right to continue to impute sins that God has already dealt with, and you have been equipped to forgive from the heart!

So, now you either are confused, or know why I loved that lesson!

Thats it for tonight, God bless!
