Lots and lots and... etc

Exactly the title, Lots of notes... because I didn't post them yesterday!

Lawson Perdue-First John Lesson 2

The focus of the new testament is not on sin, but on who you are in Christ. How we are made new in Christ. Most churches go like this, go to church, go to confession, go to sin. But rather than having this huge focus on sin, we should focus on who we are now, what we have been made. If focus on sin would make people quit sinning then those in the old testament would have NEVER sinned! But rather, they sinned all the more, because the law empowers sin. But there is no longer any condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. If there is no more condemnation in Christ Jesus, then why is there so much condemnation in the Church? The “BODY OF CHRIST” ?
The sting of death is sin, the strength of sin is the law. You don’t overcome sin by focusing on sin. You don’t overcome Satan by focusing on Satan. You overcome them by focusing on Jesus! Focus on what He has done!

Lawson Perdue-First John Lesson 3

1 John 2:15-17“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world- the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life- is not of the father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.”
Many have heard teachings on these verses alone, and most of the time it is really hard to grasp because it makes you feel small and makes you feel as if you could NEVER live life quite right. But read the verses before that!
12, “I write to you, little children, Because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake. I write to you, fathers, because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, Because you have overcome the wicked one. I write to you, little children, because you have known the Father. I have written to you, Fathers, because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, And you have overcome the wicked one.”-14
Is this not encouraging?! We are victorious! Our sins have been, not will be, forgiven! We know God personally! We have already overcome the wicked one because we are sons of God, we have the victory! We know the father! The one who is from the beginning! We are strong! The Word of God abides in us! And WE HAVE OVERCOME THE WICKED ONE!
It is finished! (sound familiar?)

“Most people think that when Jesus died that He went down to Hell for three days and there was this big struggle, and Jesus and Satan fought, and after three days Jesus finally won! …I personally think it took Jesus about fifteen seconds.” Lawson Perdue.

Now... was healing in the atonement? My opinion and strong belief, YES.

Barry Bennett-Discipleship Evangelism-Healing is in the atonement

James 5:14 “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.”
The only reason that question is even asked is because sickness was not the Normal thing in the church! Today most churches are asking, is there anyone who ISNT sick here?

Acts 5:16 “Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were ALL healed.”
So if you were taken into the city that day, and you had been sick, would YOU have been healed? I believe your answer would be yes. So now, has God changed?

Romans 5:12 :Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.” There was no death before sin, and there was no sickness (a form of death) before sin, there is a link between sin and sickness! And, this is the human race sin, not “personal sin”.
Mark 2:5 “When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.”” You see, why would Jesus forgive his sins rather than just heal him?
Mark 2:9-10 “Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, ‘your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘arise, take up your bed and walk’? “but that you may know that the son of man has power on earth to forgive sins” He said to the paralytic, “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.”
Sin and sickness are so closely related, because sickness is a fruit of sin.

2Relationship between sin and sickness
3Where sin and sickness were dealt with.

Hindrances to healing

Lack of knowledge/ aka ignorance

1 Cor 11:29, “For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.”
For lack of knowledge of what “my body broken for you” means, is part of it. Another part is simply that they were out of order and not keeping in good relationship with each other. “For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.” (Sickness is an evil work) “Just go with me on this, and if you don’t like the conclusion, Fine. You have the right to be wrong.” -Barry Bennett
Mark 6:4-6 “But Jesus said to them “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.” Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.”

Barry Bennett-Galatians Lesson 3

Revelation knowledge

“I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ” Galatians 1:6-7

1:11-12 “But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

You see, the gospel is not just something that you know, it is not something you figure out, and any other “gospel” one of legalism or of works, is not of revelation, the true gospel of Jesus Christ is a revelation given from God to man.
“Blessed are you Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood has not revealed it to you but my father in heaven.”
People teaching are not who the revelation comes from, all revelation of God comes from God. Until you have a revelation of the identity of Christ and your identity in Christ, you will not go out in perfect boldness in the word of God, you will still live in that fear that it may not be true.  Authority comes through revelation, Jesus spoke with authority because He knew what He knew and He knew that He knew that He knew it. And by revelation, Paul spoke with the same authority! Anything you have revelation on, then on that thing you cannot be shaken, nothing that comes against you can defeat you on that point.
The nature of the Gospel is to reveal, it reveals who God is, who we are, and who we are in Christ, it is a revelatory expression, and that is where most people miss it! People get into a religious system, and because of that they are no longer relying on what Jesus did, but on what they are doing and on their mental assent to knowing God. Rather than a revelation of God.

So that is yesterday and today's teaching from school, bah bah-ba-bah baaaa, I'M LOVING IT!
God is good
