Once saved always saved and the effects of sin in our lives

Interesting title huh? yeah, so here we go, with Barry Bennett this morning and Discipleship Evangelism.

Barry Bennett-Discipleship Evangelism Lesson 11

Sin

Sin did not change God’s ability to communicate with man. But communion was lost.
Isaiah 59:1-2 “Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear.”
What has God done to deal with this sin?
Isaiah 53 the prophecy of Jesus coming and what He would do and go through.
It pleased God to bruise Him; He wanted so much for communion with us that it pleased God to put the judgment on Jesus.
What can we do to please God? What can we do? Nothing, God was satisfied with Jesus on the cross! It truly is Finished!
Hebrews 10:10 “By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all”
1 John 2:2 “And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only but also for the whole world.”
2 Corinthians 5:19 “That is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.” and then, “…we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to BE sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
James 1:13-15 “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempts he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin: and sin, when it is finished brings forth death.”
Hebrews 10:35-39 “Cast not away therefore your confidence, which has great recompense of reward. For you have need of patience, that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise: ‘For yet a little while, And He who is coming will come and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith; but if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him.’ But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.”

What about individual sins?
What is the Answer for individual sins?
1 John 2:1 “My little children, these things I write I unto you, that you sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:”
V.12 I write unto you, little children because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake.”
Your sin does not change God’s love for you, it changes your heart toward God.
He who sows to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that sows to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.”
1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Do we have to confess all our sins to stay saved? Or to be saved? No, but as we confess and express those failures to God it keeps our heart soft to God, keeps us sensitive to Him.

And Andrew Wommack! Its been a while!
On Spirit soul and Body...

Andrew Wommack-Spirit Soul and Body Lesson 3
(This is like a cat, you pet it the wrong way and the cat will not be happy, but if you turn the cat around it would be fine! So if this offends you then repent… turn your cat around… and it will feel fine!)

Jesus Obtained an Eternal Redemption for Us

Hebrews 9:11-12 “But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.”
This is one time, the blood does not have to be “re-applied” every time you sin. Basically most of the church is preaching momentary redemption! Not eternal redemption! This is eternal redemption.  Every time you sin your lost again? No, Eternal, not momentary. He was ONCE offered! We are no longer living in the old covenant, we don’t have to make a new blood sacrifice every time you sin anymore! That’s how it used to be! it’s not like that anymore! Jesus died ONCE FOR ALL.

Your Spirit cannot sin, 1 John 3:9 “Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.”

Hebrews 10:1-2 “For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins.”
If those sacrifices actually worked to salvation, they would have offered one and been done for good! But they continued sacrificing because they still had a sin conscience. To have a dirty, sin covered, conscience, is not good! Get to know who you really are! We are sons of God! We ARE worthy! What would it be like if you felt no condemnation? If you believed that He was as pleased with you as He is with Jesus. We believe that God can heal, but we don’t believe that He is willing to work through us because of our sin conscience, that thing we should not have!
He is not upset with us! Not mad at us, not even in a bad mood! He thinks YOU are awesome! He loves you!
One sacrifice for all, forever; perfected forever.

Sins are forgiven-past, present, and future.

Romans 6-Why do I still sin? What effect does sin have on me?

You’re born a sinner with a sin nature.
Reasons to live holy;
The new Nature that compels you toward righteousness.
When you yield to sin you’re yielding to Satan.

God does not reject you based on your actions (God does not reject you)

Next up... next lesson...

Andrew Wommack-Spirit Soul and Body Lesson 4

2 Corinthians 7:1 “Having therefore these promises let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of flesh and spirit…” This spirit can mean a mental disposition, an attitude, to come out from the world and to cleanse yourself FROM, to come out FROM where you were, because God has accepted us, so come away from and cleanse yourself from filthiness of flesh-friends that may bring you down and tempt you, and spirit, attitudes around you and in you, change your way of thinking.
So do you believe if once saved always saved?
Can you lose your salvation?
If you went Hitler and killed millions of people, would you lose your salvation?
Hebrews 6
You cannot LOSE your salvation because of sin…
If you could then which sin is it?
A little lie?
Murder?
Sin is sin, if you break the law at one point you become guilty of the whole thing.
So, you can’t lose your salvation like you lose your wallet or you car keys.
You weren’t forced into salvation, you made a choice, you cannot be forced out of salvation you have to know what you are doing and choose your way out of it!
If a mature believer renounced their salvation then they would not be saved and could not be born again again. No man can be plucked out of the Fathers hand! But its not a cage either!
There are qualifications for this, someone who is a mature Christian, who chooses to hate and despise God, to totally reject God. It can be done, though rare, it can and has been.
So where does this leave you? What if you or I did something like this?
Well if God is still drawing you to Himself, then you have not fulfilled everything to be without hope, if you had no chance then God would not still draw you.
If it is truly renounced, then they would hate God, be happy they were going to Hell, and not really care.
You cannot sin your salvation away, we are sealed to salvation forever. Does this mean that we can just go sin? No, sin is STUPID, but hey if you are sinning, yes its stupid, but God loves you, stupid. And sin opens up doors to the devil in the flesh, he can’t touch your spirit, but if you give him legal right to your body by sinning then yes, you may end up sick.
Just don’t renounce God, that is far more stupid than going 56mph in a 55mph zone.

And... I'll have one more up today! Next post I guess!
See you there? nope
you are online
I'm probably not by the time you read this.

  1. Just a question. In that rare case when someone "lost" their salvation, what did they do?

And if you made a choice to be saved, why is it that you can't make a choice to be unsaved?

But before you answer those, what is salvation?

  2. Salvation, there are several words for it I believe, but it encompasses being saved from sin, sickness, death, poverty, pretty much anything that came as a result of sin. Though yes we still "die" we are not "dead" but we simply are out of this tent we live in.
For someone who "lost" their salvation, that is what it is, a choice, but there are requirements, you can't just wake up someday and renounce it in ignorance not knowing all of what you have in Christ. In short, it is only someone who is truly a mature Christian, Baptized in the Holy Spirit and seeing the power of God working in their lives that can then turn and after that never again come back.
Once someone is truly "Lost" after being saved, they will have no desire for God, they will hate God, and they will be happy and carefree about going to Hell because of their hate for God.
The solution? Don't renounce Jesus as the son of God, and if you have before, if you still have a desire for God, then you can still come back to Him, then you know that in some way you did not fit the requirements of maturity to know what you were leaving when you did.
    Hope that makes sense...

  3. Are there really requirements to "losing" your salvation? You said that you can't lose your salvation because of sin but yet you can fulfil certain "requirements" and no longer be saved. Then wouldn't fulfilling these requirements be "sinning your salvation away".

Also, 1 John 3:9; 5:18 says that 1) those who are born of God (I assume that is who you call "Mature Christians") DO NOT SIN (in Greek it's present continuous tense) and 2) God's Son holds them securely (NIV, NLT). So then does it not stand to suggest that as mature believers, we cannot fulfil any requirements to not be saved anymore?

  4. Hebrews 6:4-6 It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age 6 and who have fallen[c] away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.

  5. I was waiting for this verse.

verse 9-10 "Even though we speak like this, dear friends, we are convinced of better things in your case—the things that have to do with salvation. God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them."

Also, do the words "enlightened", "tasted" and "shared" mean salvation or coming into an understanding of the gospel? Being saved from one's sin is totally different from receiving (and understanding and even professing) the message of salvation. Just go back to 1 John 3:9; 5:18

  6. Look, I'm just taking notes, I haven't studied this out carefully myself, but the point is, if you have ever renounced God, and you still have the desire for God or a draw to God, then you can come back, if there was no chance for you then why would God draw you? But if you have no desire for God ever again after that, then you have no hope, and you don't care.
The whole point of this was to let people know that as long as they still want God, they can still return to Him, they don't have to live in constant fear anymore. And then to warn and give light to what it really is about. Then to show that you can't "lose" your salvation in the sense of "losing" your car keys. It is a premeditated choice to throw it out!
