Oh boy, lots to post!

A FEW new lessons...

First up,

Wendell Parr-Holy Spirit II Lesson 7

Continued teaching on the fruit of the Spirit.

Faithfulness-Steadfast commitment.
Do we not live in a day when there is not a lot of that happening? Look around, who is living with this fruit in their lives? You won’t fit until you commit! (some random quote from an old pastor)
Each of these fruits and characteristics come from the nature of God.

Deuteronomy 7:9 “Know therefore that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God, which keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with them that love Him and keep His commandments”
1 Corinthians 10:13 “….But God is faithful….”
1 Thessalonians 5:24 “Faithful is He that calls you, who also will do it.”
Psalm 119:90 Faithfulness unto all generations…
Psalm 92:2 “…. and your faithfulness every night,”

God is faithful.
Point made? Yes, do you get it? I would hope so, but again, you must realize that God cannot break His word, He has made His word His bond that He cannot break.
Again I want to remind us that His nature, His spirit, His life, and His fruits, are all inside of us, they are natural for us to do, they are normal.
This is a good testimony to those who see us do these things, they see a better picture of God in us.
A Faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that makes haste to be rich shall not be innocent. Proverbs 28:20
2 Timothy 2:2 “And the things that you have heard of me among many witnesses the same you commit to faithful men who shall be able to teach others also.”
That is the reason this school is the way it is, it is to help us develop a faithful attitude, and to find those who are faithful so that the school would be run and developed by faithful people.

Barry Bennett-Discipleship Evangelism Lesson 9

2 Cor. 5:17 “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old has gone, the new has come.”
Genesis 1:26 “Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
The only reason that man does not have these things now is because of sin, but in Christ this is who we may again become!
1 Thessalonians 5:23 “Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
James 2:26 “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” The body without the spirit is dead, it is a spiritual death, but we did not physically die, we were just cut off from the source of life, this is why we don’t live forever.
Ephesians 2:2 “dead in trespasses and sins…. In which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience”
A Story,
One day a farmer found a baby eagle in his fields, it had fallen from its nest and could not yet fly, so the farmer scooped it up and took it home, he then put it into the coup with the chickens in the hope that it would learn to cope and that it would live. The eagle after a couple of days began to imitate the chickens by scratching the ground and looking for worms and beetles, eventually the eagle grew to be quite large and quite good at scratching the ground and being a chicken. One day as he scratched after a nice juicy worm, he saw a Large shadow of an eagle go right over him, he looked up and saw it way up there in the sky flying free and easy. Right then a rooster walked by and asked him, “What are you looking at?” he replied, “That, up there” and the rooster said, “Oh, that is an eagle, but you are a chicken, so don’t give it another though.” And so, the Eagle went back to scratching after the worm without another thought of the eagle in the sky because he did not know who he was.

1 Corinthians 6:11 “And that is what some of you were, but you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the spirit of our God.”
6:17 “But he that units himself with the Lord is one with Him in Spirit.”
Hebrews 3:13-14 “But exhort one another daily, while it is called today; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast unto the end.”

And...

Lawson Perdue-Bible Covenants Lesson 7

The Blood Covenant
The blood is very important, without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin. It is the blood that makes atonement of the soul. It was the blood that purchased our redemption.
The Blood provided then and now- Old Testament types;
Adam, Abel, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Joshua, Gideon, David, Solomon, and Elijah.
The lamb for the sacrifice was always the one inspected, not the person offering it, not the person partaking of it, good thing too! If God was not looking at the Lamb of God rather than us, Jesus dying wouldn’t have done us much good! But with God’s spirit now living in us, that is what God sees, not the things we do, good or bad, He sees His perfection in us.
“When I see the blood, I will pass over you” God sees the blood of Jesus! It is perfect for salvation! It wont run out!
There is also provision in the blood, Exodus 24:3 “All the words which the Lord has said will we do.” But they couldn’t! They were spiritually not capable of doing that! You know, these are some famous last words! Verse 4, the alter represents our approach to God. There aren’t 3 steps to getting to know God, to getting into the presence of God, there is 1! Jesus! It is nothing that we do, besides putting out faith in Jesus, God has made His promises true!

And...lastly...

Lawson Perdue-Bible Covenants Lesson 8

Comparing covenants,
The law and Grace
A better covenant established on better promises.
We could not perform well enough with our old nature, but now we are a new creation and we have the ability! But still, it is not based on our ability or what we do but on what Jesus did!
No flesh is justified by the deeds of the law, and by the law is the knowledge of sin. The righteousness of God apart from the law is made known, Grace gives us the knowledge of Jesus.
Romans 8:3-4 “For what the law could not do in that it was weak through he flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the spirit.”
Romans 5:21 “So that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Now, in the old testament, the law brought fear to motivate people to do what is right. But fear is a terrible motivator! It is a short term motivation, so if you have one day left to study for a test and you haven’t even thought about it yet, then fear is probably a GREAT motivation, because its just that day, but its so much better to go long term. It is the Goodness of God that leads men to repentance! (Not Hell houses that “Scare the Hell out of you” that will always produce short term things out of fear, not out of love because of Grace.)
But we, just as Isaac, are children of promise.

And thats it! now the long break... some more cake, and some juggling! then back for some more of Wendell Parr! so... that means another post coming soon!
