Arthur Meintjes-The Heart of the Gospel Lesson 6
Once again, Good is not something God does, it is that and more, it is Who HE IS.
The Gospel is good news!
The Gospel of God because it is the good news message of God about His Son Jesus Christ.
-The Word Gospel clearly defines the message to be preached, and it clearly sets the limits of the messages to be preached.
- Everything that falls within the limits of good news about Jesus Christ and what He has accomplished on the cross is the message to be preached.
The Cross is the “Heart of the Gospel”
“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace [with God], (The good news of peace… not of judgment and death, not fire and brimstone, but good news of peace) Who bring GLAD tidings of GOOD things!”
“Peace on earth, and good will toward men.”
Hebrews 2:14-15 “Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.”
Through the death and resurrection of Jesus, we can be released from the fear of death! We do not have to live under that! To live is Christ, but to die is gain!
God is not the one killing! The wages of sin is death! God is life! God is Good!
But the gift of God, is eternal life!
John 3:16-17 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”
God did not send His Son to condemn the world! And yet!!!!! THIS IS WHAT MANY “PASTORS” ARE DOING!
Why are we judging the world then?
Verse 18 “He who believes in Hi is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” The world is already judged, but for those who have believed, they will not be condemned.
John 5:21 “For as the Father judges no one, *****but has committed all judgment to the Son*****(God is not judging anyone, because all judgment has been placed on Jesus, it is finished, the judgment that should be on us, is placed on Jesus), that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father, He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.”
John 9:39 “And Jesus said, ‘For judgment I have come into this world, that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may be made blind.’” He did not come to judge, but to take Judgment, this is a freedom from Judgment! HE DID NOT COME TO JUDGE!!! He came to take the judgment that should have been on us.
John 12:27-28 “Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save Me from this hour’? But for this purpose I came to this hour. “Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven, saying, “I have both glorified it and will glorify it again.”
He came for this purpose, to take our judgment, the judgment that would be placed on us, on Himself, He came to die in our place, the Judgment of God is no longer on us.
He says, what shall I say? “Father save me from this hour”? no, because He came for THAT HOUR.
Verse 31 “Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.” That now, was 2,000 years ago! The judgment of the world was then, is not now. But He was there to take that judgment on Himself.
Oh, and why does the church seem to make the devil so powerful? It has been 2,000 years since he was cast out! What does this mean? This means that God has not heard an accusation from the devil against any man for the last 2,000 years! He can no longer accuse us to the Father of anything, he can try to accuse us! But as we not condemned! God does not hear this accusation that the devil speaks! It is all lies!
He HAS BEEN cast out!
Verse 32 “And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to myself.” the word peoples, and the fact that it is in italics, means that it WAS NEVER IN THE ORIGINAL LANGUAGE! It should read like this, “And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all to myself.” And, if we look at the first word, which would be “and” we must look back at the last verse, it is speaking of Judgment! The word placed there should not be peoples! It is speaking of the Judgment! He being lifted up drew all Judgment unto Himself! It was not the cross, the nails, the beatings, or any of those things that killed Jesus! He was perfect and without sin! The wages of sin is death, and He could not die because He had no sin! But He took ALL JUDGMENT onto Himself! It was the Judgment of God that He took in place of the world, that killed Him, not the cross or the nails or any of that.
Isaiah 54:6-10
“For the Lord has called you Like a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, Like a youthful wife when you were refused,’ says your God. ‘For a mere moment I have forsaken you, But with great mercies I will gather you. With a little wrath I hid My face from you for a moment; But with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you,’ Says the Lord, your Redeemer. ‘For this is like the waters of Noah to Me; For as I have sworn That the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth, So I have sworn that I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you. For the mountains shall depart And the hills be removed But My kindness shall not depart from you, Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,’ Says the Lord, who has mercy on you.”
Do you get that? With great mercies He has gathered us, with everlasting kindness He has mercy on us, He is our Redeemer, and just like the waters of Noah, the flood, after which God gave a sign of the covenant that He would never again flood the earth with water, and what would that be? A rainbow. He says that this is just the same to Him, but what was the flood all about? It was Judgment! So, this is prophesying of Jesus dying! The rainbow is for us to see, not Him, it is to remind us, so what if I came and said to you that, “Oh wow, God spoke to me last night, and He is going to flood the earth with water and we have to get ready!” you would shoot me down and show me right where God promised that He would NEVER again flood the earth! That Judgment was and is still over! So is Jesus’ death on the cross, the Judgment is over, and the cross is a sign to us, to remind us, that the judgment is over, the price is paid, and never again on this earth will God Judge people for their sins. Like it says, before, the world has already been judged.
Now please, do you get that? There is nothing more important here, God said, “SO I HAVE SWORN THAT I WOULD NOT BE ANGRY WITH YOU, NOR REBUKE YOU.” and even when the, “mountains depart (Mt. St. Helens?) and the hills be removed, His kindness shall NOT depart from us”
NOR SHALL HIS COVENANT OF PEACE BE REMOVED.
Please get this.
Peace, everlasting peace with God.
Peace, He shows kindness to us, loves us, is never angry with us, is good to us, has given us the Holy Spirit, repeat, etc…, and on and on, God is infinite and if not for the limits of my time, language limits, and this computer’s memory, that list would go on forever!
God IS(as in is = to) Good.
If you haven’t got it by now, you don’t want it, but I’ll tell you again, you should.
