Today was dress up Friday, and myself being the quick guy I am realized that this is the FIRST dress up Friday and that the first year students didn't really know much about it and well, the second and third year would probably forget or not participate anyways, so I didn't either! And, thankfully I was right! I fit right in!
Well the first class today was on prosperity, the fact that God has provided, and the way that we receive, some interesting thoughts, and all totally backed by scripture... just realize that I wasn't taking notes for that class.
The second class was on Bible Covenants, specifically Romans. The first point made is that the Gospel is the revelation of righteousness. Then going over the first few verses the point was made that Paul, though being an apostle, the first in what is called the "five fold ministry" (not something I have ever used before, but is mentioned in First Corinthians 12 near the end,) and in that way the "highest" position, calls himself a servant. Like Jesus said, "the greatest among you shall be a servant to all." Paul was set apart. In verse two, it is mentioned that the Gospel had been promised through the prophets, that would be by the old testament prophets, God had already promised it, Jesus is the fulfillment of that! Later on in the chapter, (chapter 1) around verses 15-17, Paul identifies himself as three things, He is a debtor to Jesus, he is not a victim of man, he is a victor through Christ's power. He is ready, we should always be ready in and out of season to give a reason for the hope you have in your heart. He is no ashamed, the Gospel of Christ is power, we are not to be intimidated, I have power, I have love, I have authority. The way the teachers here at Charis refer to the Gospel is "The almost too good to be true news of Jesus." I think that is pretty cool!
Third class was called "A sure foundation, the Basics of Righteousness." First lesson is about the parable of Blade, Ear and Corn. From Mark 4:26, "And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground." It is a comparison of how the kingdom of God works and how a seed works. The seed symbolizes the Word of God, the Word is life, the seed is life. Mark 4:14, the sower sows the word, if he doesn't it wont grow. The reason a seed is used here is because it is a natural law, not a man made system! You can cheat a man made system, you can cheat nature. Andrew Wommack told of a man who was "the worst sinner in all of__________" I can't remember where, but this man got saved and then went around all over sharing his testimony. The thing is, this man was a farmer, and when he got back at the end of the summer, it was one week from harvest time, and the man though that if he planted his fields that God would supernaturally make it grow in a week. He spent .5 million dollars on seed, and planted five sections... each one is something like 650 thousand acres of land, and he did this one week before harvest. Needless to say, it didn't work, you can't cheat the system, seed time and harvest. or as they say it at school, seed TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE and harvest. (Andrew Wommack grew up on a farm, he would know.) Now the importance of all this, is that the word of God is the seed that we are to plant into our lives, if you are praying for healing, are you just asking for healing or are you standing on a verse that promises healing? You wont get anything to grow if you don't plant a seed! This isn't a virgin birth here, thats not going to happen again. And you know what, when an apple tree is growing an apple, it doesn't take any effort, you don't hear it groan and then see an apple pop out! It is effortless! Plant a seed and you will see the fruit! But plant it in time, because its not an instant thing, now, one thing they did remind us, is that those that have already planted seeds in their lives can put things into the lives of those who have not. I mean really, what happens to the guy that has three days to live and needs healing, but the seed needs time to grow? Someone who has the seed grown in their lives is the answer. And really, no scientist, no one knows how seeds work, they found seeds in an Egyptian tomb that were 4000 years old, they planted them and the sprouted! Seeds are amazing, don't know how they work exactly, but they do. It is a seeds Nature to grow when put into soft soil, they will even grow into and crack HUGE rocks in half, that is the power they have, but they take time. One last thing, the seeds must be mixed with faith, there must be a seed, and this cannot be cheated. Well yes, that was a good class! Read the Bible!
The fourth class was called "Holy spirit I-III" The three points for today (this class was still good, but not nearly as exciting) were along with three scriptures, John 3:1-6, you need to be born of the Spirit. Matthew 3:11, 12, you need to be baptized of the spirit. And Luke 4:14-19, you need to operate in power of the Spirit. The thing is, most Christians want all God has for them, Most do not have it because of three things: 1. Ignorance of those things. 2. Misinformation about what God wants them to have. 3. Denominational Doctrines, most denominations disagree with one part of the Bible or another, and for some reason they don't let the Bible get in the way of what they believe. And thats it, I would challenge you to not worry about what your church believes if it doesn't agree with the Word of God.
So now, this is for sure my longest post, hope you are reading this now because that means you actually got through it all, now I'm hanging out with some other students and wondering what to eat for dinner, Goodnight all, hope you enjoyed it!
More next week!
yes I'm taking a break from this for the weekend!
God Bless,
Ben Heath
I love the Tiiiiimmmmeee and "this isn't a virgin birth here". Good preaching.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your enjoying it!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, this was one of my favorite teachings, but all of them are so good, its hard to pick out one from another, they all are teaching things that work together for the whole picture and they all use a lot of the same scriptures!
